Obama calls Kanye a Jackass

The American President, Barack Obama made an off-the-record comment about Kanyes behaviour at Sunday's night MTV VMA's after appearing on US business news channel CNB off camera:

Here's what the President has to say about Kanye's behaviour:

“I thought that was really inappropriate, you know it was like she’s getting an award, what is he butting in? I hear you, I agree with you. The young lady (Taylor Swift) seems like a perfectly nice person. She’s getting her award. What’s he (Kanye West) doing up there? He’s a jackass. Come on guys. Cut the president some slack.”

The comment was picked up and posted on Twitter by journalist Terry Moran, who works for rival network ABC.

He posted: "Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential."

The post has been deleted, and ABC have issued an apology to the White House for quoting words that were never intented to be made public.
